I have to admit that I am kind of in love with the phrase “dripping with atmosphere”, but I fail to find anything that describes the setting of “Darkest Dungeon” better. However, I still felt the need to write about this title since my emotions regarding “Darkest Dungeon” have been strong, albeit not all positive.

Is there anything about this game I can add that would not have been discussed elsewhere? Probably not. It was a commercial success, saw various DLCs, has a sizeable fanbase, and even developed itself into a game series with the release of a sequel in “Darkest Dungeon 2”. From first appearances, the game ticks a lot of boxes: A cool and distinct art style, an atmospheric soundtrack, interesting classes, and challenging fights in a dungeon crawler framework. However, at some point earlier this week, I managed to sit down and re-installed “Darkest Dungeon” with the explicit reason to write the article about it. Releases: 2016 (PC, PlayStation 4, PS Vita), 2018 (Nintendo Switch, Xbox One)įor today, I have another game that I wanted to write about for a long time now but as you might know, muses are fickle and writer’s block can even happen in hobby scenarios like my blog here. Genre: Role-Playing Game, Dungeon Crawler
